Dear Bayshore Parents/Guardians,
As of September 22, 2020, San Mateo County has transitioned into the Red Tier under the State of California’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy: https://covid19.ca.gov/safer-economy/#track-data. In order for schools to consider re-opening to in-classroom instruction, the county must remain in the Red Tier for two weeks.
This status change for our county will undoubtedly raise questions and pose challenges for families, school employees and community members. While moving into the Red Tier is a positive development, the re-opening of schools continues to require significant planning and preparation efforts for our school.
As we plan to transition to our Hybrid model, we need to know if you want to stay in Distance Learning or transition to Hybrid (part time in-person instruction). Keep in mind that when we transition in to our hybrid model, we will be bringing students and grade-levels back in phases. We will NOT bring all students back at once.

California is giving food benefits to low-income families to help them buy food while schools are closed due to the coronavirus emergency. These food benefits are called Pandemic EBT or P-EBT benefits.
Apply today to make sure you get the funds!
Apply at https://ca.p-ebt.org/en/
How much will families receive?
Families will get $365 per eligible child, distributed on a P-EBT debit card, to use on food and groceries.
Who is eligible?
If your child qualifies for free or reduced-price meals at school, you are eligible. Families with children who get CalFresh, Medi-Cal or Foster Care benefits should also automatically get the funds which will be automatically deposited on your P-EBT card.
If you have lost your job or faced economic challenges as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and are not sure whether you qualify, please apply for the food benefits, as you may be eligible.
What do I have to do?
Eligible families should have received a card in the mail addressed to each eligible child. If you have already received the card and used the funds, please do not throw away the card. The government of California may put more money on your card each month if they are able to find more funding.

This is the first in a series of newsletters to inform families and the community about the District’s countdown to a planned school reopening in August. The goal of these newsletters is to keep families and staff informed as we plan for the next school year. The COVID-19 pandemic and related health orders are changing over time which means what the next school year will look like is also a changing picture. In order for us to open successfully, implementing public health recommendations and the county wide framework are essential. Each newsletter will contain regular updates about our countdown to safely reopening school this fall. This week includes the 4 Pillars of the Pandemic Recovery Framework. Next week will include our timeline and answers to questions from the survey. If you have not completed the survey, please complete it at www.thebayshoreschool.org.

Bayshore Families and Staff Members,
Starting this evening, there is now a curfew in effect across San Mateo County from 8:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. The County Board of Supervisors took this emergency action to maintain public safety as civil unrest continues in areas of the Bay Area and nation. The only people allowed to be outside between 8:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. are those going home, going to work, getting healthcare, first responders including government staff doing emergency operations, those working for news media or people who are unhoused. Businesses must close to the public by 8:30 p.m. The curfew is in effect for two evenings, Tuesday, June 2nd and Wednesday, June 3rd.
