Dear Bayshore Families,
First, I want to say I am so proud to be a member of the Bayshore Community. Our staff and families have transitioned to our At-Home Learning Model with grace. I appreciate the flexibility and patience each of you have displayed during this transition.
By now you should have heard from your student’s teacher and your student should be working hard on their At-Home assignments. Teachers are checking in and providing lessons via Phone, Zoom, email, Google Hangouts, etc. We are also checking with every family on their access to Wifi and a personal device (desktop, laptop, Chromebook, or table) for each of their students. If you do not have access to a device for each of your students, please reach out to your student’s teacher and you will be able to check one out from the school. It is important to remember that the assignments your student is receiving are required assignments. While we may not be on campus, we are definitely in session. You will be contacted by the school if we do not receive the work back as we want your student to be in school. Thank you for helping your student navigate this new learning environment.
The Bayshore School and our Community are doing our part to slow the spread of the infection in the community. If you have come to school to pick up or drop off your student’s assignments, you will have seen our Social Distancing Protocols in place. Please follow the directions as they will assist in keeping everyone at least 6 ft apart. We know how hard it is during this time, as humans are social creatures, but it is extremely important that we follow the guidelines in order to ensure the health of the larger public and ourselves.
Below are a few updates:
Tentative Date for Whole Group/On-Campus School to Resume
Today we received direction from the San Mateo County Health Officer that the School Dismissal has been extended and the new tentative date for students to return to school will be Monday, May 4, 2020. However, while we anticipate and plan for this as the day of return to campus, we must continue to be flexible in there may be additional extensions as we move forward.
Dates to Remember
March 16 - April 3: At-Home Learning
April 6 - April 10: Spring Break - NO At-Home Learning
April 13 - May 1: At-Home Learning
The Campus remains open Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm, to staff and for students receiving unique or specialized services. Bayshore staff will continue to work on our campus as Disaster Service Workers to provide meals for children under 18 and distance learning, while implementing social distancing protocols to protect their safety.
Together we can slow and maybe stop this spread but we each need to do our part and encourage one another to do the same.
Thank you, Audra Pittman, Ph.D.
